GEF

The forum where new ideas have their say

An issue of vital importance for our society: How can we improve the quality of education?

Only if we help to enrich the educational experience will we achieve, together, a more prosperous society.

Here is an exercise in imagination. For a moment, let’s travel to ancient Greece. In the main square of any of its city-states the most important people gather to discuss politics, culture or commerce. This public round table for discussion of the shared future and how to improve co-existence, is the Ágora. Now, let’s return to the present. We bring up the Ágora model and use it to discuss an issue of vital importance for our society: How can we improve the quality of education?

We are seeking to answer this question together with the involvement of the leading world experts in education. This is a new place for dialogue, debate and the big conversation on the nature of the education system and its need to change. With its multidisciplinary format, this forum appeals to the whole school community (teachers, students and parents) to contribute views and participate in the discussion. But the GEF does not stop there. It is also looking for the commitment of the rest of society, stimulating debate and bringing the reflections of the world’s leading thinkers on education. Among the major names who have been involved in the Global Education Forum are those of renowned education professionals and experts such as Marc Prensky, Ken Robinson, Richard Gerver and Nicholas Negroponte. Several of the country’s leading digital entrepreneurs and publicists, such as Charles Barrabés, Bernardo Hernandez and Eduard Punset, have also participated.
