Environmentally-conscious school with green students working for a sustainable society.

One of the corporate responsibilities of Fundación SEK is the Tree Nation project, in which each pupil and family, for every tree planted in Niger, receive double virtual payment for their enrolment in a SEK centre. Tree Nation is a dynamic social network that fights desertification, deforestation and climate change by planting trees. Since 2006, it has been working with the United Nations Program for the Environment.

This initiative is part of Institución Educativa SEK’s EcoSEK program, which promotes good environmental practice and sustainability across the entire educational community. It is a way of promoting sustainable development initiatives and educating students in the values of multicultural diversity, ecology and social responsibility.

All the trees planted by our students make up the SEK Forest, which continues to grow as trees are planted for family members or as SEK Forest trees are planted as presents for loved ones. This reforestation chain brings both economic and ecological benefits by restoring biodiversity, absorbing CO2 or stabilizing water resources, among many others initiatives.
